Famous Artists/Studio Musicians
"My KASHA Rockmod head kicks ass. All three channels are perfect and represent three
completely different awesome tones. I play live in 2 bands and do sessions
all over LA and i've never heard so many compliments about tone in my life. The Rockmod
screams so ferociously, most people think i'm using pedals but it's all in one amazing
amp."
Phil X
“The
ROCKMOD 50 watt head is amazing. I took
it to a session for the first time. The
producer and engineer both loved it and
wanted to use it on the record. They
also requested that I bring it back for
later sessions. Great amp!”
Tim

"In
the early `90 I ordered several Rockmods
for diverse guitarists in Germany and
the Netherlands. They all still play
them, including me! Since 7 years I'm
playing in a very successful German
band, that`s called "Höhner"
www.hoehner.com Now I`ve heard, that
this Rockmod is alive again. Great!"

"From
the second I tried it in my rig, I knew
the Rockmod preamp had something special
for me. It has been a major voice in
every session I've done since."
Dean

"As
one of the first to use the ROCKMOD back
in the late 80s, the new ROCKMOD
provides even more rich musical sounds
coupled with the new RoBo-CAB making it
a valuable tool either live or in the
studio."

The Quikmod actually resides in a box
that sits on top of your amp. It
connects to your first preamp tube
socket, given you additional gain stages
at your fingertips. Makes your single
channel amp a two channel amp. It comes
with a gain and post gain control and is
footswitchable.
I have one and use it with my modded out
Epi Valve Jr, an old Silvertone 1482 and
my Marshall 1959 SLP.

The
primary quality this amp has is
"Character"...it takes the sound of your
guitar & enhances it...really it does-
-each of the guitars I use (70's Les
Paul TV Special, Anderson Pro-Am, Zion
Radicaster w/Bartolinis, Modulus Tele w/Bardens...main
instruments) ALL sound better than they
do through a standard (you name it
brand) amp. Your effects also sound
fuller & articulated.

This
is a 3-channel, all tube preamp. The
channels are, Clean, Crunch, and Burn.
Cool names! Channel switching is awesome
and very flexible. There are three ways
to switch channels on this preamp, on
the front panel there's a knob for
manual switching, on the back of the
unit there's a jack to connect the
included footswitch, and then there's
the 1/4" jacks to connect to a switching
system...like with a Bradshaw or Axess
switcher. The effects loop in this thing
is great. It really adds warmth to my
effects because it's an active,
tube-buffered loop. It's great to get my
effects out of the way and into the
loop. It made my $100 BOSS delay pedal
sound like an expensive studio rack
delay. A friend of mine put his Line6
Pod XT pedalboard into the loop and it
totally made a huge difference, for the
better!

I
really love this pre as it is very
versatile. I have been told That Dann
Huff(Giant,session ace,producer)used
these at one point. It is a box of tones
if you like to tweak a little. It is
very friendly to rack fx and pedals in
front of it. I think these pop up for
300-500 once in awhile but they are
pretty rare. Way better that SP-77,
Piranha(yuck!), MP-1, JMP-1(not
versatile)I have heard it be compared to
an IE4 wich I would love to try out.

I've
owned quite a bit of gear. I actually A/B'd
this against a CAE 3+ preamp, it it held
it's own wonderfully. It's a great
sounding piece of gear. I wish I had 2
of them. If you have one out there HOLD
ON TO IT!
Shoot, I grew up with you
guys in CA. You guys
have always made a killer
amp. Cant wait to
visit you at NAMM.
BTW, the cabs are off the
hook!
Gregory
Patrick, was
great meeting
you. It would
have been great
to get pictures
of everyone's
face of the
before and after
tones on the Epi
Valve Jr and
Super Reverb
using the
Quickmod.
Priceless! Time
after time all
day long! All
the gear sounded
great!
The
new Kasha stuff is amazing. I got to
play on the 3ch head and the Epi with
the QuickMod at NAMM and I was blown
away. I had already ordered a RockMod-3
preamp before the show, but after
hearing the head, with the switchable
output sections and all, I had to switch
my order to a head. I can't wait for it
to get here. I've had basically
EVERYTHING and this stuff rocks! Great
work guys!

i
have used this pre with about 20
different guitars over the years
everything from a japanese squier
strat to a shecter C1 blackjack. i
play all kinds of music funk, metal
, ska , blues , etc. it is not to
noisy but i use it with a bbe sonic
maximiser and symetrix compressor
through the effects loop and then
into a midiverb II out to a
microverb 4, into any # of amps and
cabs, this thing has punchy heavy
saturated distortion and very fender
style clean. the clean channel is
very clean, you can get a slight
distortion if you push it. i have
used this for many years and i got
rid of my modded marshall when i
bought this. most guitar amps are
not this versitale.
Anonymous
Finally got it mounted back in my
rack and hooked up to the power amp.
After a few minutes of dial turning
I found a good base setting to build
off of. The clean channel on the
Kasha is spectacular.
With the resonance and presence
control on the Peavey power amp I
can really dial in the sound. The
initial attack thumps you in the
chest and then the note just cuts
like a razor sharp sword with a
chocolat pudding aura around it. In
other words, it makes you forget
that there are still two other
channels to play with on this thing.
I didn't spend much time on the
crunch channel, but it has a lot of
gritty bite. Gave me a bit of a ZZ
Tops vibe. The burn channel is where
the action is. Tons of gain, huge
body...none of the thin fizzy sound
that comes out of a lot of hi-gain
setups. The only thing I could ask
for would be a little scoop on the
midrange. I may be kidding myself,
but I'm going to hook up a 10-band
EQ and see if a little more shaping
gets me where I want to be.

Huge Racks Reviews
New
Kasha Rockmod
I have the new
Kasha Rockmod now for two
weeks and have the experience of one
live performance and one weekly
exercise with the band
www.aparty.nl.
The live performance was great.
After a bad sound check (too little
time) I had my first live experience
with the new
Kasha Rockmod. Rhythm is
crisp and clear. I play a Fender
Stratocaster with 2 EMG singles and
1 humbucker, which can be pulled to
a single coil. The clean is so clear
with a highly dynamic sound,
breaking through the whole band. It
is excellently suitable for dance
and funk music. The crunch channel
is one of the only usable crunch
channels on the market. It delivers
the same amount of gain as the lead
channel of my former amp. It sounds
like an old Marshall JCM800.
Perfectly suitable for Brian Adams
songs. Then last but not least the
burn channel. This is why I wanted
the Rockmod so badly. It provides
rich harmonics, excellent clear and
clean distortion with an excellent,
never ending sustain. We played The
Final Countdown of Europe and the
solo was amazing. It seems that my
fingers had a much easier job using
this pre-amp. People were watching
which equipment was producing this
sound. The attack of the plectrum is
very good hearable. It’s no mud, but
really good defined distorted sound,
like you find back on CD’s of
Whitesnake and Chicago. Pulling the
tremolo completely down and up gives
a sound as you are starting a 12
cylinder Mercedes Benz.
John
Kasha built in a new
channel switching mechanism, which
can be used by all standard channel
switching devices. The TC-electronics
G-Major features a relais switch,
which can be configured per channel.
The channel switching of the new
Rockmod is excellent: noise free and
extremely fast. I had it setup in
less than 5 minutes. I was a little
bit afraid for getting hum for the
240 V/50 Hz versus the 110V/6 Hz
difference between USA and Europe.
Nothing was less true: the amp is
very quite. No hum at all. Excellent
signal/noise ratio, especially for a
tube pre-amp with this high-gain
level.
I had a
Kasha Rockmod 1 before
and was very happy with the burn
channel, but the clean channel was
just average. John
Kasha managed to set a
new standard on the market with the
new ultra-clean channel. I have now
an excellent crunch channel and
again the famous – even more fat –
burn channel as I experienced from
my Rockmod 1.
My current setup is the
Kasha Rockmod tube
pre-amp, TC-electronics G-Major,
Brunetti Star-T-Rack 2x50W tube
power-amp with a dual cab 2x12
Celestion Vintage speaker set. I am
always searching the perfect guitar
sound and now I found it. Finally,
John
Kasha managed to
create a 3 channel pre-amp, which
brings the best of clean, crunch and
burn into one high-end device. John,
thanks for being back in business.

Hi, I have a rockmod that I bought
in about "93" new. ( Dan Huff
recommended it) I recently pulled it
out after about 10 years-it still
sounds unbelievable.

Hi John,
All I can say is “The
Rockmod head kicks ass”. The
crunch is FAT and the burn
is well ON FIRE! I used it
tonight with a Maxon chorus
and Echo Jr delay in the
loop, that’s it and no
overdrive on the front end!
The fact that all I had to
do was punch the burn button
and I was in Yngwie lead
heaven was unreal. No tube
screamer or power screamer
needed at all. It had a
really nice tone, sustain
and gain but the notes were
distinct!
John, thanks for taking care
of the amp! Thanks for
everything. My words about
you will be a true testament
to what you do! Thanks!
Regards,
Rick
Hello,
This is Rene, the guitar
player that came through
with the groovy hat(smile),
Thanks so much for giving
your time to me, Your gear
is great , and I;m hoping we
can do something in the near
future together. I know
you're busy so get back to
me when you can.
Rene
Hi John,
Thanks for the demo at NAMM
of the Quikmod unit. My
friend was amazed..... Do
you have any pics of your
100 or 50 watt head's back
panel? I'd like to see the
controls and am interested
in getting one, a 100 watter
that is.
Thanks!
Brian
Hi,
I'm located in sunny
Athens,Greece! I'm a
seasoned professional
player(40 years old). I'm
using a Top Hat Emplexador
as well as other Marshall
inspired amps. I'm looking
for more and smoother
sustain. I knew about your
company and products from
the 80's but my interest was
sparked again by Andy Z's
post at The Gear Page.
Theodore
John,
Thank you very much for your
advice and time about my
Rockmod 1.
I cannot wait to see and
hear your creations at NAMM
!Amazing!
Send me everything you can.
Shawn
Hi.
I attended the guitar fair
in Reading, PA this past
Sunday, and watched in
amazement as your amps were
being demonstrated.
I'm a player of 41 years
experience, and I have to
say I was mightily
impressed by what I heard
and saw.
I am interested in both the
1x12 & the 2x12 Robo Combo
amps. I play a lot of
clubs and the occasional
large venue. My style of
playing encompasses a wide
range; mostly rock, blues,
and some country.
Could you let me know what
the prices are for both
models?
Thank you,
Erich
John,
Its nice to meet you and appreciate the response.
I was very impressed with your Model - RM50HD. I was checking your sound clips and they were incredible. I am very interested. Thank you for your time.
Luis
I have a rockmod preamp that i`m very pleased with........
I would like to check out the heads ,do you have any resellers in
Europe.
Per
I would like to know the price for the 50 watt dual mode head or a dealer in the Phoeniz AZ area. What I heard on the website sounded awesome.
Thanks,
Michael
John,
Yes, It was a pleasure and an honor to get to hear
your amps today. Some of the guys kept coming up and
wanted to know more about them after you left... they
were definitely interested.
We shall keep in touch.
Regards,
Jon

John, I love your preamp man.
I'm just setting up my studio in my house and will get some shots of the pre
in the next week. Don't worry about the rack rash on the unit. I can remove
it. :-)
Any product testing would be welcome. I'd be glad to help...
Dave
Hello – I met John in approx 1990 in LA and he had just finished a prototype midi controlled memory Rockmod ala Triaxis Soldano X99.
What ever happened to that unit and when is he going to release one to the public???
The unit I saw had a few bugs but was in the throws of being finalised before he left town
I have owned approx 4 Rockmods in the past. I am very interested in the midi version.
Regards,
Steve
Hello,
While surfing the web I found your site, and I`m very impressed by the
sound-samples...
I have some questions: Is it possible to switch from 120Volts to
230Volts (for Europe), or do I need an adapter?
And would you sell and ship this preamp also to Germany?
Thnaks for your replay,
best regards,
Steffen
Hello,
I love the sound clips
on the web site but I
still don't know if this
preamp will be the "end
all" that I hope it will
be. Do you have a return
policy if I find that it
doesn't work out for
me? Also, can you
please tell me the price
I'd pay if buying direct
within the next few
weeks.
Thanks,
Paul
I received the Kasha
RM50HD on a Wednesday. I
was anxious to play with
it but was unable to due
to the fact that my
loudspeakers were all in
the storage at the gig.
So I sat and looked at
it, talked to it,
discovered where all the
knobs were. So I thought
“OK so I play tomorrow
night, I need to get the
settings dialed in” and
I proceeded to use the
basic settings that are
shown in the manual.
That night went by and
the next thing I know I
was loading my new
friend into the car to
go to the gig! It was a
bittersweet moment
because over the last
six months I have
literally done this
every week or two. The
anticipation of a new
amp had become the
stress of hearing my
band mates say “Another
amp?” and laugh and joke
and say the same old
things that they usually
say. “That thing will be
on Ebay in a few days”
or “dude save your money
and buy a _____”
I arrived at the gig to
the disappointment of a
major thunderstorm. We
play outside and the
storm meant NO GIG! So
instead of turning
around andheading home I
decided to pull out my
speakers and just plug
this amp in, no effects,
no special reverb or
delays, just a cable and
the amp.
What I discovered was
pure and utter surprise.
The clean channel was
glistening, it had the
depth of any high dollar
amp I have ever owned.
The tones rang through
effortlessly, almost
made me think I had my
piezo output going into
the amp but I didn’t. I
hit the crunch button
and went into the most
solid and tightly
overdriven tone
imaginable. NO pedal
needed, no problem going
from AC/DC to Dokken to
even the more saturated
metal sounds. The EQ was
very responsive, it
reacted a lot like a
Midas console. If I
wanted more highs it
took very little
adjustment to get it.
All three channels have
independent EQ.
The BURN channel was
exactly what it says it
is. I basically left the
preset as it was n the
manual and made a few
minor eq changes to
adjust for the
difference in speakers.
I use a custom 1X12 cab
with EVM-12L speakers
and the tone on the amp
was the tightest and
most enjoyable of any of
the almost ten amps I
have tried since March.
I used some and had
great chunk but were too
fuzzy on leads, some had
great clean but the
overdrive was muddy.
None handled the
simplistic task of
plugging in and playing
the way the Kasha has!
I am not new to playing.
I started gigging in
1986 and have played
regularly on the club
and regional touring
circuit since then. The
service and response
from Kasha has been
second to none and I can
honestly say, without a
doubt, that this amp is
the most flexible
amplifier I have ever
owned and I plan on
buying at least one more
for my home rig!
